Our beautiful Mummy, we all love her dearly. Although, let's be honest she can be annoying, despite seeing her just once, yearly. This is what makes my mum so special, her ability to be present. Never a dull moment when she is around; the family fun begins whenever she visits. The constant nagging at each other, the banter between siblings - usually stemming from something Mum brought up. And then there's the two-hundred questions; worded differently though all asking the same thing. Her mood fluctuates from high on laughter to tears, crying bullying in the blink of an eye. As painful the time we spend with each other, the world would be a different place without our mum. She awkwardly assists in everyday life, advises us when we feel all is lost and, despite being so far away, she is the true companion we all long for today. We know she'll be proud and back us to the hills, regardless of our action. So without further adieu, I'm presenting a poem to express how we all really feel. One child to another, our mums mean the world! We may not show it but we couldn't possibly imagine a day without you. Here's to all the mums who think their children take them for granted. Be honest, we see you out there!
~If I Didn't Have You~
If I didn’t have you I wouldn’t know what I'd do. My smile would dissolve and my life would be blue.
If I didn’t have you the sky would be grey. The whole world would be glum and there would be sadness all day.
If I didn’t have you no work would be done and if I didn’t have you, almost certainly no fun.
If I didn’t have you all the books would go unread. The house would be dirty, empty cupboards; no milk and no bread.
If I didn’t have you my friends would all stare; for the smell of my clothes and the knots in my hair.
If I didn’t have you my teeth would be rotten. The washing piled up and the rubbish forgotten.
If I didn’t have you my room would never be clean. The bathroom so grotty and the toilet seat green!
If I didn’t have you our family would break. Our birthdays would be dreaded, no sight of a cake.
If I didn’t have you our poor pets wouldn’t eat. Fido and Phil, I’m afraid to say, they’ll be dead meat!
If I didn’t have you the car would conk out. We’d be stuck in traffic, “Get off the road!”, the angry drivers would shout.
If I didn’t have you I’d forever moan of a sore tummy. The tuck in at night; the worst with no Mummy.
If I didn’t have you my world would be sad. Both night and day would be boring; Daddy would go mad.
If I didn’t have you I would fill a pool with my tears. I would write a big list to Santa and all his reindeers.
If I didn’t have you I would wish upon every star; shooting or not, both those near and afar.
If I didn’t have you my world turned upside down. I would be known as the child with a permanent frown.
But I do have you, and Daddy, even my rubber ducky! I love you Mummy and I feel so lucky!
~With all my heart Mum...~
